A great majority of us carry deep wounds — inflicted by state systems of persecution, as if for mockery called "healthcare", and by the cruelty of individual bullies. This suffering can be overwhelming: it suffocates hope, shreds dreams, and erodes confidence, robbing a person of the chance to build a beautiful and fulfilling life. Even with knowledge and resilience, it is not easy to lift oneself out of such emotional pain.

For this reason, psychological support stands as one of the most vital needs for trans people. Yet finding the right therapist is often daunting. Too many practitioners are ill-informed, exploitative, or even abusive, making the search itself a source of anxiety.

It is therefore with real joy that I introduce Mariana, Imago’s new psychotherapist and clinical psychologist. Mariana is not only highly qualified professional but also a compassionate ally — and a parent of a trans person. Her presence in our community brings both expertise and lived empathy.

This service is offered exclusively to our subscribers, with no initial fee required to join. Each full session is €60. To book, simply email us.

As is our custom, Mariana will introduce herself to you:

Hello!

My name is Mariana.

I am a psychotherapist pre-accredited in Ireland, with 12 years of experience as Clinical Psychologist in Brazil. I am a specialist in Gender and Sexuality, Neuropsychology, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Child Psychology. I am part of the LGBTQIA+ community, neurodivergent and proud mother of a 25-year-old trans person.

I am here to support you, providing a safe and welcoming space to feel heard and understood. In my sessions, I focus on listening carefully, reflecting on what you share, and helping you build strategies that make sense for your life. I work with tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and integrative approaches, always tailored to the individual needs of each person. My goal is to help you feel more stable and understood.

I offer sessions in Portuguese and English, lasting approximately 45 to 50 minutes.

I look forward to supporting you on this journey!

Mariana da Costa Amorim
